Beatriz Alvarado is the Digital Organizer of Chispa Texas. She lives in Corpus Christi, just two miles from the heavily industrialized strip along the ship channel known as "Refinery Row." Beatriz, a daughter of immigrants, grew up in the border town of El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Before joining the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) as a Community Organizer in 2019 she reported for five years on state and local issues for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times Newspaper and USA Today.

“Latine and BIPOC communities disproportionately suffer from the effects of pollution and climate change. It’s time for our leadership and elected officials in Texas to enact policies that will ensure the livelihoods of our most vulnerable communities and hold the fossil fuel and petrochemical industries accountable.”
