Privacy Policy

Chispa, a program of LCV (“Chispa”, “LCV or “we”) strongly believes that if electronic and mobile advocacy, education and other activities are to flourish, users must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect privacy, we have implemented the following policy,

Personally Identifiable Information

We may collect personally identifiable information from you including your name, email address, mobile telephone number, or credit card information when provided to us. We use your personal information to send you email alerts, respond to questions or requests and process online donations. If your personally identifiable information is collected, it may be shared within our family of organizations and other closely aligned groups for the purposes of responding to any comments or questions you submit and to provide any follow-up information about our organizations and our issues. Your information may also be shared with trusted outside vendors when necessary to fulfill any request you have made to us, such as charging your membership dues to your credit card. We reserve the right to release personally identifiable information about you when necessitated by law or court order.

Opting Out

All of our online communications contain opt out instructions and links at the bottom of the email. You can always “opt-out” of Chispa’s online communications to keep from receiving unwanted emails. To opt out of receiving online communications, you may also send an email with your request to feedback@lcv.org or by calling us at (202) 785-8683. Be aware that our sites link to other websites and we cannot control and are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of those websites.

Opting In and Opting Out of LCV Mobile Communications

Message and data rates may apply. By opting in to the program, you consent to receive automated text messages from Chispa. For support or questions, email feedback@lcv.org or text “HELP” to 877-877 or any LCV mobile communications.

If you no longer wish to receive mobile communications from Chispa you may opt out at any time by texting the word “STOP” to 877-877 or any LCV mobile communications. You can re-subscribe at any time by texting “LCV” to 877-877.

With respect to cookies, flash cookies, and web beacons

We may use cookies, flash cookies, and web beacons to store visitors’ preferences, record session information, alert visitors to new areas that we think might be of interest to them when they return to our site, and record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site. Be aware that our online partners who provide certain features related to our websites, including Every Action and Phone to Action page on the main LCV site, may utilize cookies in other ways.

Chispa may collect your email address via cookies and pixels on the Website through the use of trusted third party partners. These partners may also combine your email information with other information they have access to such as mailing address so that Chispa may serve relevant marketing offers to you via email and direct mail. If you do not want Chispa to collect information about you, please contact Chispa to opt out.

Email Lists

Users sign up for our email lists by taking one of our actions, donating to Chispa, or otherwise opting into the list will receive regular communications from Chispa. Each communication will provide information on how to unsubscribe from this service. We will not sell or rent your email address or personally identifiable information to any commercial users or marketing firms.

Browser Information

If you visit the websites of any of the LCV family of organizations to read or download information, we may collect and store the following general information: your computer’s IP address, browser type, and operating system, the date and time you access our site, the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site, the search terms used in connecting to our site, and the various pages that you visit while on our site. We use this information to optimize user experiences by analyzing trends, gathering broad demographic information, and monitoring site traffic patterns that help us further develop and improve the design and functionality of our site.

Publicly Sharing Your Comments

We often receive information from website visitors who have successfully participated in our programs and/or used our resources. In certain instances, we would like to publicly share the comments and stories we receive by posting this information on one of our websites. We will not, however, publicly share ANY information we receive on any of our websites without first receiving the express consent of the individual who submitted the information.

Protecting Our Children

Chispa’s is concerned about the safety and privacy of children online. Because of this, we will make all efforts to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulations establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. We do not and will not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13 and our website is directed to people who are at least 13 years of age or older.

Other Security Measures

We want to provide Chispa members and other supporters with a secure experience whether they are renewing a membership, making a donation, or joining for the first time. While no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information, we use all reasonable means to safeguard the privacy of your personal information. Our technical security measures include using industry standard 128bit encryption to secure the transfer of data between your browser and our servers. When our forms ask users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with one of the best encryption methods in the industry today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). While on a secure page, such as our membership form, the lock icon on Web browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.

Policy Revisions

We reserve the right to periodically amend this privacy policy and as such revisions to our privacy policy will be made on this page. This policy was last modified on August 6th, 2021 with all changes made effective as of that date.
